Matthew A. Machemer

Associate Kantor

Matthew Machemer joined the Concordia Theological Seminary community as associate kantor in 2014. He directs several choirs, works with instrumentalists, assists in worship planning for the chapel, and is organist for regular chapel services and special events. In addition, he is an instructor for the summer organist workshops and assists in the planning and administration of the seminary’s annual Good Shepherd Institute.

Machemer attended Concordia University Chicago (River Forest), graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education; emphasizing in choral music. He has studied organ with Dr. Steven Wente, composition with Dr. Jonathan Kohrs and voice with Martha Kasten. Machemer is currently pursuing a Masters in Theology through the seminary.

He is a published composer, with works available through Concordia Publishing House and Liturgy Solutions. In addition to other projects, Machemer is a contributing composer to CPH’s Acclamations and Hymn Prelude Library series. He has also presented on various musical and theological topics at various conferences and has served as Kantor for the DOXOLOGY program.
